How the French 4 worksheets work
Grammar sheets, like “would have, could have, should have in French” and “past subjunctive: feelings about earlier events”, ask students to build forms and then use them in sentences of their own. The sheet on “reading stories told in the passé simple” is a reading task built on passages in the passé simple that the student turns into everyday past tenses. Writing sheets are different, with “writing polite formal letters and emails” asking for letter phrases and “building a clear French essay” asking for the outline of an essay before any full sentence is written. The sheet on “formal, casual and slang: choosing your register” sets the same message in several registers and asks the student to tell them apart. Problems are marked easy, medium or hard, so a student can see how far the sheet goes. Work through the sheets in order, or pick the ones that match the week's classroom unit.
