Painting a Portrait with French Adjectives – French 1 worksheet with Zoé, the Français PDF coach

Quick answer: French adjectives agree with the noun they describe in gender and number: add -e for feminine and -s for plural (grand, grande, grands, grandes). For French 1 students practising French adjectives, this worksheet gives 20 problems from easy to hard: choose the agreeing adjective, match the colors and read the cards. The answer key is on a separate page, and the worksheet is a free printable PDF.

This worksheet trains agreement, placement and irregular forms of French adjectives, and the vocabulary for describing hair, eyes and personality. The first problems ask for single forms, the middle ones combine nouns and adjectives, and the last five ask for correction, translation and a guided portrait.

It matches French 1 goals at the ACTFL Novice Mid level: describe people in conversation (Interpersonal), understand short profiles (Interpretive), and write a simple description (Presentational).
