Watch out with vivre

Use avoir

In compound tenses vivre takes avoir (j’ai vécu). The participle vécu agrees only with a direct object placed before the verb.

Irregular stems

Learn the stems, not the endings: the present is je vis / nous vivons / ils vivent, and the future and conditional use vivr- (je vivrai, je vivrais).
